Recently I saw a program on T.V. about some people somewhere in Asia.
They were in a temple, praying to their gods.
I was not paying close attention, so I don’t know what religion it was.
But what did catch my attention was that they were asking their gods to cleanse them of their sins and unclean thoughts.
Seeing this started me thinking that people everywhere KNOW that there is a difference between right and wrong, good and evil.
Why is it that people are aware when they do something wrong?
Why do people feel guilty when they do wrong?
At what age does this begin?
Even a small child learns quickly when
the parents teach them right and wrong.
However, some people eventually harden their hearts and sear their conscience, to the extent that they do very evil things, seemingly without it bothering them.
Have you ever wondered how evil (sin) entered into the world?
When one listens to the news these days,
it sounds like evil has overrun the world.
In the beginning, it was not supposed to be this way.
The Protestant Christian Bible, comprised of the Old and New Testaments, is the
“ONLY TRUE REVELATION OF GOD TO THE WHOLE WORLD !”
It tells how evil came into the world.
Let’s read from Genesis, the first book in the Old Testament.
Genesis 2:7-9, 15-17 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 8 The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life [was] also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. … 15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Genesis 2:18, 21-25 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. … 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Genesis 3:1-17 1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 “but of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make [one] wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they [were] naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where [are] you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you [were] naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” 12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave [to be] with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13 And the LORD God said to the woman, “What [is] this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You [are] cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” 16 To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire [shall be] for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed [is] the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat [of] it All the days of your life.
Adam and Eve, this first man and woman that God created, disobeyed.
Their disobedience is known as ORIGINAL SIN !
The first sin ever committed.
This sin separated them from their perfect relationship with God.
This separation is known as spiritual death.
Original Sin brought both physical and spiritual Death.
No, they did not die immediately.
The Protestant Christian Bible says that Adam lived 930 years.
If they had been obedient to God, they would never have died.
This Original Sin is passed on to every person who is born.
God has a WAY for EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD
to be FREE from Original Sin.
Also known as “the sin nature”, that we are born with.
THAT WAY IS JESUS !
Jesus is the “Seed of the woman”, mentioned in verse 15 above.
The serpent is Satan, the Devil, the Deceiver.
The Devil wants to keep all people separated from God.
God’s value placed on YOU and me, is the Life of His Son JESUS.
GOD LOVES YOU SO MUCH !
God sent JESUS to die on a Cross, to pay the penalty for our sins.
There is no way that we can atone for our own sins.
We can NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH,
or do enough Good Works,
to get into Heaven.
JESUS came to earth as a Man, and lived a perfect sinless Life.
Then He willingly gave His Life, on the Cross.
The Perfect Sacrifice required by God the Father.
Jesus’ death Atoned for our sins.
Jesus is the ONLY ONE who can forgive your sins.
It is USELESS to pray to any other gods.
All other gods are man-made, or the figment of someone’s imagination,
and have NO POWER to do anything for you.
If you truly want your sins forgiven, and your life changed.
To have a clean heart, YOU must REPENT !
Repentance is turning from your old life,
from doing things your way.
Surrendering your heart and will to God.
It’s to ask God’s forgiveness.
To choose to obey the teachings of Jesus, the Apostles, and Evangelists.
Obeying what is written in the Protestant Christian Bible New Testament.
This has to be a sincere decision of the heart.
Not just words spoken from your mouth.
You cannot worship Jesus as just one of many gods.
HE IS THE ONLY TRUE GOD AND SAVIOR OF ALL MANKIND.
SAVIOR TO ALL WHO TRULY REPENT.
THE TRUE GOD IS A TRINITY.
KNOWN AS THE FATHER, THE SON (JESUS), AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.
GOD IS ONLY ONE GOD.
GOD THE FATHER IS EXTENDING HIS GRACE TO YOU RIGHT NOW.
GOD IS DESIRING THAT YOU WILL TURN TO HIM IN JESUS.
WHEN YOU DO, HE WILL FORGIVE YOU.
GOD’S FORGIVENESS CLEANSES YOUR HEART FROM ALL GUILT AND SHAME.
ENABLING YOU TO LIVE A NEW LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS.
THEN YOU WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO GO TO HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE.
AND YOU NEED NOT FEAR DEATH ANY LONGER.
